Faith Garcia
Youth Leader STOMP Out Bullying™

Faith Garcia was born in Manila, Philippines, and moved to California when she was five.  She is an eighth grader in Orange County, California.  Faith was recently elected one of two Co-Presidents of the student council for the 2015-2016 school year.  This marks her second year in student council, being elected Technology and Mobile Video Coordinator for the school in seventh grade.  Faith is in the process of implementing their school's first ever "Peer Tutoring Club," a promise she had made to her fellow students, which she hopes will help bring them closer together and help them be more sensitive to each other's needs.  She also plays volleyball for her school, is an active member of Girl Scouts and Campus Ministry, is consistently on the honor roll every trimester, and represented her school in the Orange County Spelling Bee, winning first place.  In the past, she was a member of their school's Green Team and was a cheerleader as well.  She enjoys singing, reading books, video production and editing, and has begun involvement in graphic design.

Faith attends a small school, so it was easy to become friends with practically everyone and get to know one another quite well. Up until seventh grade, she had never had to deal with any major problems with her friends, but things changed in seventh grade when a few difficult situations taught her that friends can grow apart, and sometimes people change. Experiencing a form of bullying first hand has made her feel sad for other kids who might be going through the same thing, and she knows that there are even worse ways kids are bullied in today’s world . With the advent of social media, she feels that it's simply not enough to prevent traditional types of bullying.  Cyberbullying and all types of social aggression is just as bad, and could very quickly get out of hand if not prevented.

Raising awareness especially for the non-traditional types of bullying that kids and parents may not realize they are engaging in has become very important to Faith.  Her newfound dedication to the prevention of bullying is the reason she has become a Youth Ambassador for STOMP Out Bullying, so she can be a voice for other kids.
