Jace Izuno
Youth Leader STOMP Out Bullying™

Jace Izuno is a junior in the theatre and musical theatre departments at his arts high school in Los Angeles. He is a featured Scholar and long-time member of the National Children’s Chorus, where he trains in vocal performance and studies music composition at the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music.

Jace is currently a Life Scout with Boy Scouts of America, serving as a senior patrol leader and chaplain and working on his Eagle Scout ranking and service project. He also holds a second- degree/dan black belt in taekwondo and was selected for a taekwondo demo team to share martial arts with the community. Jace regularly volunteers in Historic Filipinotown, where he served as a youth camp counselor with Search to Involve Pilipino Americans (SIPA). He has helped with SIPA food drives, fundraisers, and holiday toy drives, prepared and delivered food for the district’s homeless population, and painted the community center as part of a beautification project for the non-profit’s headquarters.

During the pandemic, Jace was inspired by the outpouring of community support for the #StopAsianHate movement and efforts made by groups like Hate Is A Virus, the Japanese American Citizens League, StopAAPIhate.org, and SIPAcares.org. Exploring the idea of using art to unite people of different backgrounds and to create better understanding about individual experiences with racism, Jace founded RethinkRacism.org to foster a community of artists who express their experiences with racism through art of various mediums. The goal of RethinkRacism.org is to build a collaborative space online where all are invited to look, listen and learn, and from this collective sharing, live better together.

Jace believes in the power of art and stories to connect with one another. He appears in the independent short film “Kaaway” (“Enemy”), a coming-of-age story about a Filipino American boy who bullies and later befriends a new classmate from the Philippines. The film, in which he plays the lead role of “Jonathan,” went on to win multiple film festival honors, including awards at NFFTY (National Film Festival for Talented Youth), Asian American International Film Festival, Asian World Film Festival, and several others.

Jace enjoys anime and music, and in his  free time, plays guitar and ukulele. He  is honored to be selected as a Youth Leader for STOMP Out Bullying and intends to help influence positive change and promote unity through community.
